The Psychology of a Ninth Month Old Foetus

At this tail end of the pregnancy, the foetus becomes endowed with all its characters - the five senses (gandharsadi), intelligence (buddhi) and the physical anatomy and physiology are basically fully developed.

What the foetus also acquires at this time is an ability to remember itโ€™s past lives. But along with these memories come an overwhelming amount of information.

โ€จPut yourself in the bare slimy feet of a 9-month-old foetus. A variety of compendiums start rushing through its mind:

  • Visions of thousands of variegated living forms,
  • The taste of a variety of food and drinks,
  • The taste, sensation and texture of having sucked breast milk from many different species,
  • Having gone through a cyclic process of birth and death, with repeated birth from thousands of female genitals (Yonis)ย from a variety of species.
  • Memories of sufferings, miseries, sorrow (Dukha), insults and criticism that were not averted and never resolved.
  • Good and bad deeds from past lives cause confusion and clouds the memory in the little foetus brain as it attempts to link these deeds with past sufferings.

Thus, the quality of mental and physical characteristics which are developing in the 9th month of pregnancy depends upon the good deeds of previous births (Purvajanma).โ€จ

And then...
The moment the foetus passes through the female genitals and contacts with oxygen (Vaishnava Vayu), it forgets even the most painful sufferings and miseries, previous lives and good and bad deeds.
