Natural Remedies for Anxiety and Depression

Hand reaching for the sky

ANTIDEPRESSANTS may stop us from feeling unhappy, anxious or depressed but that doesn’t mean we then feel happy, radiant and fulfilled.

We just stop feeling.

We stop feeling into our natural enthusiasm to have shared experiences with other people and other things (Love).
We stop feeling our desire to fulfil the need of the time and the needs of others (Dharma).
We stop feeling gratitude and even awareness for the beauty that permeates every single corner of life (Appreciation).
It’s no secret that anti-depressants inhibit our sex drive.
Through the alteration in cortisol and other hormones, antidepressants not only inhibit our ability to experience love, happiness and fulfilment but also weaken our immunity, making us more vulnerable to nasty diseases.
Natural Remedies for Anxiety and Depression
On the bright side, antidepressants can be life-saving medications in emergency situations.
They have an ability to provide a window of time and space for a person to put their life back together. Note this is short term, and too many people “stretch” this window of opportunity and become dependent and habituated to them
In recent years, the most prevalent mental illnesses in Australia have become Depression and Anxiety, and during the COVID-19 pandemic cases have risen exponentially worldwide.  Here at Vital Veda we have received many enquiries regarding natural remedies for anxiety and depression hence this article.
At Vital Veda, we never advise anyone to go off any medications if you are already taking any.
We aim to make you feel better mentally, then only under the guidance of your doctor may you gradually wean off the medications if that is necessary for you.

Natural ways to Treat Anxiety and Depression

According to Ayurveda, there are a variety of natural remedies for anxiety and depression.

At Vital Veda, we explore a variety of all-natural solutions to assist people in healing anxiety and depression without the need for antidepressants.

Here are just a few things to look at and consider.

Meditate

Meditation will quickly allow for your mind to slow down, de-excite itself and achieve a state of inner calm.
Although there are several meditation techniques, Vedic Meditation is the one we recommend the most, due to its high effectiveness and how easy it is to actually learn it.
You can find a Vedic Meditation teacher close to you by clicking HERE and scrolling down to “Vedic Meditation”.

Self-Abhyanga Massage

A daily Abhyanga practice restores the balance of all biological agents, pacifies the nervous system and enhances well-being & longevity.
Your skin is your largest organ, plus it has more nerve endings than any other part of your body. So when you anoint oil on those nerve endings and massage them, it helps ground and strengthen the nervous system.

Sunrise in Nepal

Wake up with the sun and go to sleep before 10pm

Waking up early in the day increases Sattva. This is the factor for purity, lightness of being and radiance in one's life. When Sattva dominates, tamas (inertia) which is the quality which leads to depression, diminishes.
When light shines, the darkness diminishes. Feed the light, and the darkness will starve itself out.

Optimise your sleep

Many of the chemical imbalances that afflict the brain (which naturally often lead to depression, anxiety and stress) are caused by a lack of optimum sleep. Optimizing your sleep will allow for your brain to be rested and to remain strong.

The lack of optimum sleep has many other consequences that go beyond these three conditions, but if you are trying to address these three, sleep can not be ignored.

Fresh food cooked with love.

Fresh food is full of Prana (life-force). This helps provide positivity in life (Sattva). Left over food, frozen food or microwaved food is tamas (inertia). It is dull, has a low value of Prana and therefore makes you feel low in life.

Herbs

Samadhi

Samadhi opens the physical channels and enlivens wholeness (unity) in the mind and body. It is particularly useful for those afflicted with mental stress, tension and anxiety.
It is also helpful for restoring calm during any stressful situation, including performance anxiety. It also balances Prana Vata (movement in head, central nervous system and life-force regulator).

Manasolassa Vati

It enhances mind-body coordination and connection. Helps pacify overactive and thinking minds, therefore assisting in cases where lack of sleep and insomnia are present. Helps with depression and is useful to transition off pharmaceutical antidepressants.

Drakshadi Kashayam

This nourishing tonic strengthens and stabilises the mind and body. Helps in nervous system disorders, depression, tiredness, dizziness, anxiety and schizophrenia. It is also helpful in the treatment of alcoholism and hangovers.

Foraging and Curing Olives

Olive tree

Season (Kala)

As we exit the northern solstice, “Uttarayana,” which is heat dominant (Agneya)  , and transition into the southern solstice, Daksinayana, cooling and moon dominate (Saumya), here in Australia, the earth moves a little more away from the sun in the southward direction.
Seasonal transition (RtuSandhi ऋतुसन्धि) is a significant event in Ayurveda. Not adapting to the outer environment and supporting your biological changes which vulnerably occur at this sandhi (transition) time is considered one of the significant causes of disease.
So that is why in the Vedic culture, 9 nights are designated at these times of transition. These nine nights (Navratri) are provided to go more inward (opportunity for enhanced spiritual connection), eating less or some types of fasting so your cellular energy can be utilised on other biological functions than predominately digestion, and eating certain foods and herbs to assist with this transition.
Here in Australia at this time of year (around late April), nature provides olives. Ripe and ready on the tree to be brined and cured.
Olives being fermented and rich in Lactrobacillus bacteria have the action of sparking up the digestive fire (deepena karma).
This naturally aligns with nature because by the time these olives are cured and ready to eat, it’s winter, and the digestive fire is stronger as it huddles in to keep the body warm and digest higher protein and fatty foods to keep us insulated as we hibernate through winter.
Olives have a delicious abundance of monounsaturated fat. This coupled with biophenol anti-oxidants, helps regulate cholesterol by preventing the bad cholesterol in the arterial walls and supporting the good cholesterol for heart, brain and hormonal health.
Dylan Smith harvesting wild olives
Overall inflammation is reduced in the body by the phenolic compounds in olives when they are had in moderation
However, olives are quite salty and heating. So make sure to consume them in condiment sizes and eat them seasonally - in winter. Pitta types   should eat less of them as they can increase this fire which may manifest as skin diseases, acne, irritable bowel syndrome, hyperacidity and anger/irritability.
So my fellow Australians and those around the world who are reading this or saving it for when your season comes, look for some wild or generous olive trees and have a go at curing them…

Brine and Cure Method

Brine cured olives are absolutely delicious!
The basic principle of curing olives is that you are using water and salt to extract the glycoside from them - the chemical which makes olives very bitter when picked. Then you are left with sweeter, bitter, salty tasty fruits.
  1. Soak olives in water - Put your olives in a bowl or esky or drum of pure room temperature water. (It is good to have a tap as you will be draining the water and refilling regularly). Or you can sit your olives in a strainer in a bowl of water for easy removal and water change.
  2. Cover the vessel and leave for two days.
  3. After two days, empty the water and refill with new water.
  4. Repeat this process for about 14 days total. (If you forget about your olives for an extra day or two, that is fine).
Brine Cured Olives
Now it’s time to brine…
  1. In a big jar mix 1L of pure warm-hot water with 100gm of salt non-idolised good quality salt. Warm-hot water is used so that the salt can dissolve evenly throughout the water.
  2. Note you can make 5L or 20L of brine (highly concentrated salty water). Whatever you want. Just ensure the water to salt ratio is 10:1 (10% salt). So if you are doing 5L of water, add 500gm salt.
  3. Once the jar of salt water is cooled to room temperate, add your olives in until they reach the top of the jar. It is good to squish them down tightly in. They should be fully submerged under the brine. To achieve this, add a small plate or some big flat rocks to weigh the olives down.
  4. Keep your jar of olives in a dark place with a stable temperature (like a pantry).
  5. How much time to brine? -  This depends on the size of olives, the ripeness, how long you did the water stage for (if at all, you don’t have to do this stage but it makes the olives tastier and smoother), how salty you like your olives .
  6. Taste your olives after they’ve been in the brine for 2 months and get to know the taste of brining olives. This can take 4-12 months for them to be ready.
  7. After the brine stage - When they are ready, you should strain the brine (this will be very bitter).
  8. Then store your olives by adding them into a new brine (this lasts for up to 6 months), in olive oil or in 50:50 vinegar and water solution.
  9. Add herbs and spices like rosemary, fennel and lemon slices is good to add at this into the jar for the storage phase until you eat them all.
  10. Enjoy your very own brine cured olives!

Hemp (Bhañga) in Ayurveda

Dylan Smith surrounded by Cannabis Plants

Cannabis sativa or hemp is commonly referred to Bhañga भङ्ग in Ayurveda, but is also known as Vijaya विजय which means “victorious”, as it is victorious over so many diseases.

It’s bitter taste and heating potency (una virya) mitigates kapha (heaviness, sluggishness) and penetrates sharply to stimulate the digestion. It may be more suitable for those who are more grounded.
On the contrary, what mitigates kapha (earth element, grounded, heavy, oily), aggravates vata (air & space element, ungrounded, light, dry). Vata and Kapha are opposites.
Hence, according to Ayurveda, bhañga / hemp can produce constipation, confusion/delusion, intoxication, low libido, insomnia and make one talk in excess if it’s used in excess or in inappropriate formulas or with lack of wise herbal combinations.
Pitta   types also have to be aware because it is sharp and very heating, especially for those with an inflamed gut (IBS, IBD, Crohn’s etc.).
Ayurveda states that hemp, or Bhañga, is helpful for varieties of inflammation, anti-spasmodic, pain, epilepsy and the results on drop (atonic) seizures that I have seen in my patients are astonishing.
I am increasingly seeing oils being self-prescribed and used inappropriately to treat stress and nervous system disorders, which may weaken the nervous system in the long run.
Related reading - "CBD Oll: Is it really worth the highpe?" click HERE.

Each part of the plant produces various effects

The hemps seeds, more of a food than medicine, are more cooling, have a sweetness to them, and a pretty perfect balance of omega-3, -6 and -9 essential fatty acids. They can help in constipation (vāta anulomana), nutrient deficiency and rejuvenation (rasāyana).
Ayurveda mainly uses the flowering heads (Gañjā गञ्जा) and leaves.
I have been using organic flowers grown rather local to me, cooked into native organic macadamia oil on patients with joint and muscle pains with impressive effects. If you would like a bottle of oil to massage onto your load stricken body, click here.
One last thing to note about cannabis, which my guru commonly says to people who choose to consume it, is only consume it when you are in a happy/positive state of mind, and avoid it when you are depressed, anxious or ungrounded.

Get to know your herbs

I will be teaching about how to come across any plant, food, herb or substance, and be able to determine what it’s properties and qualities are; then be able to utilise that in a therapeutic or nourishing manner to any person or situation in your life.
Acting in the moment with what is available to YOU.
Learning principles for experiential knowledge.
Not needing to memorise theory, but owning the knowledge.
This will be taught in my online course: The Essence of Ayurvedic Nutrition”.

Divine Creative Energy (Shakti) & Accessing Mother Divine (Devi) | Yashoda Devi Ma {Podcast #046}

Vital Veda Podcast Banner: Awaken Shakti with Yashoda Devi Ma

Mother Divine (Devi) - the creative aspect of the Absolute field of Pure Unbounded Consciousness.

Creative feminine energy (shakti) contains the mechanisms that make the unmanifest manifest.

Awakening shakti will enliven your consciousness while increasing the amount of bliss you feel in your daily life, the willpower you have at your disposal and your capacity to act in accordance with the need of the time.

The sacred feminine is the source of creation. That which is responsible for all that is continuously being created.

About Yashoda Devi Ma

Yashoda Devi Ma is a Vedic Meditation teacher with a passion for helping students reduce stress, cultivate a clear mind and live from the heart. She is the founder of YDM Meditation, a boutique style wellness studio in Boulder, Colorado, which is the base of a thriving community of local and global meditators.

Yashoda has dedicated two decades to Vedic Meditation and Himalayan Yogic practices after the teachings transformed her life and lifted her out of severe depression. She also has a deep insight into the science of Jyotish (Vedic astrology).

Yashoda teaches from direct experience and the initiations gained while studying with two masters of meditation and tantric yoga coupled with extensive travels to the sacred lands of India. It is her greatest joy to share these powerful techniques in the most embodied and relatable way possible.

In This Episode We Discuss

  • Mother Divine (Devi)
  • "Navaratri" - The nine nights of mother divine.
  • "The rising of the feminine", awakening shakti and what that actually means.
  • Siva/Shakti Energy - the interplay of masculine and feminine.
  • Durga (courageously removing irrelevant impurities from ones life).
  • Laksmi (abundance, high value of all areas of life, expression of love).
  • Saraswati (pure knowledge)
  • Ways to invoke Mother Divine in you and truly awaken that shakti energy.

Japa

Japa - a practice we use with clear intention and focused effort to help correct the mistaken intellect, refine our contemplative thinking spectrum and enhance specific fields of awareness/consciousness. On the other hand, Vedic Meditation is designed to be effortless and expand the mind beyond thought all together. Two techniques that compliment each other quite powerfully, but are not interchangeable.

Japa is an active meditation. We can look at Japa as our strength training outside of a daily deep meditation.

Japa means “rotate” and in this practice we move our fingers over a string of beads (called a mala) to focus awareness + concentration as we repeat the mantra. Every time we complete a repetition of the japa mantra, we move to the next bead. A full mala has 108 beads and a full Japa is 108 cycles of the mantra.

Japa Meditation counters the mind’s tendency to become overwhelmed by the continuous stream of inner chatter. As one slowly moves along the mala with the mantra, the mind becomes rooted in that same unhurried, calm movement.

Japa Meditation directs awareness into a clear focus, both objectively and subjectively.

Japa is very helpful for awakening shakti and enlivening their own state of consciousness.

Embracing Change Enthusiastically, Navigating Crisis & Nature’s Play | Gary Gorrow {Podcast #034}

When you embrace change enthusiastically, you have a say and influence in how the change occurs.

Look at this opportunity with great enthusiasm.

An opportunity to challenge the assumptions of everything.
Is the ever repeating known you are indulging in really the most evolutionary thing you can be doing?

A mass awakening is on the brink of dawning. But we need to get radical.
Get radical by radiating absolute bliss amongst the collective, in the streets, in the grocery stores.
Get radical by enthusiastically enjoying your self and having fun!

This is episode part 2 on how to navigate during crisis's and pandemics. View part 1 here.

About Gary Gorrow

Gary has earned a reputation as one of the best in the meditation field and is respected among his peers as a ‘teacher of teachers’.

He has worked with thousands of people from all walks of life and his services are sought after by some of the world’s leading companies.

Gary is passionate about empowering people with techniques that enable them to re-engineer their lives inside and out.

He is a practical and down to earth character who dedicates himself solely to working with people to maximise performance and success in their personal and professional lives.

In This Episode We Discuss

Is There Such a Thing as Right and Wrong

  • Right and wrong are relative terms and, therefore, nothing in existence can be said to be absolutely right the absolutely wrong.
  • Everything in creation is so intimately connected with every other thing that is not possible to completely distinguish existence of one thing from another.
  • In the state of cosmic consciousness, when individual mind gains the status of cosmic mind, they function on the high level of right life and naturally unaffected by the influences of wrong.
  • For those his consciousness is not raised to the level of cosmic consciousness, we must find an adequate criterion for right and wrong.

How to Deal With Frustration about Pandemic

The growing distrust about the narrative run by the mainstream media and its various agencies.

The Vedic View on this Pandemic

Universality and Diversity

The three realms to consider:

  1. Gross, relative, surface of the event.
  2. Subtle - is there a motive behind this? Was this a spontaneous event? Is there a ruling elite that are leveraging on this crisis?
  3. Transcendent.

The interplay of very contrasting forces at times.

Everyone lives and acts according to their level of consciousness.

The mixture of old and new souls on the planet.

Never denounce anything or anyone. That is a violent act.

Feeling more deeply into your own inner wisdom and sensibility.

Ignorant and dark forces are a catalyst for people to gain a greater perspective.

A condition that all humans suffer from: we all seek confirmation bias.

We tend to exclude everything that doesn’t confirm what we hold to be true.

In society we all benefit from rich and dynamic exchange of various view points.

Once an idea gets adopted by the collective. It somehow gets embedded into the belief systems.

What’s coming next in the playbook?

Questioning the system has become forbidden.

The truth is now irresponsible.

Almost as if it hangs a sign on the front door saying "free thinkers are not welcome here."

Rebellious nature

Gives a balanced perspective and not blindly accept things.

Honouring our individual nature and the flavour of our personality. Not ignoring it.

Bystanders

They know the truth but are choosing to ignore to some extent and take no action.

Why are gurus and spiritual leaders not speaking up? Only the medical profession.

The various ways and roles spiritual leaders can play and are playing during crisis and pandemic.

The Mental Gunas (Qualities / Mental Doshas)

  1. Sattva (purity)
  2. Rajas (stimulation)
  3. Tamas (inertia)

By increasing purity and lightness of being (sattva), we ultimately reduce the excess stimulation and irritability (rajas) as well as inertia and darkness (tamas). How to increase sattva hence reduce tamas and rajas.

What happened to the celestial beings who existed along side the humans, and then disappeared.

Realising Our Potential

We see only 1-2% of the visual spectrum and hear only 1-2% of the audio spectrum. So there is an enormous amount of information which we don’t perceive in our normal waking conciseness.

Vedic view is that there is a subtler level of creation which is the realm of these angelic divine beings, and also their opposite.

The mass awakening and permeation of divine beings that is near and upon us

(early May 2020).

Time for Radical Action & a Mass Awakening

Civil disobedience has to be this new fashion.

Get radical by radiating absolute bliss amongst the collective, in the streets, in the grocery store.

Get radical by enthusiastically enjoying your self and having fun!

Transforming Crisis Into Opportunity & Embracing Uncertainty | Gary Gorrow {Podcast #033}

How do you navigate through uncertainty?
How can you thrive whilst going through a time of radical change?

You may have gained a greater understanding and perspective on the medical reality of the germ that is Covid-19, thus do not fear it, however, whilst gaining perspective you may have been exposed to the dark truth and hidden agendas that are involved in this "plannedemic."

How do we interact with these evil and dark forces? How do we support the light, the positive and enlighten the collective?

If you retaliate against evil, you lower yourself to the level of the wrong.
Rather let the wrong be just a drop in the ocean of your virtue.

And what really is the bigger picture behind all this?

Gary Gorrow is interviewed to share wisdom on the greater perspective view on all this.

About Gary Gorrow

Gary has earned a reputation as one of the best in the meditation field and is respected among his peers as a ‘teacher of teachers’.

He has worked with thousands of people from all walks of life and his services are sought after by some of the world’s leading companies.

In This Episode We Discuss

Biological fear chemistry

The problem with fear is that is shuts down our executive functions, compromises our immunity and ultimately disempowers us.

Questioning the programming of our culture.

Gandhi was powerful because he has the support of many people. A human empowered movement will be able to rewrite an entire system of humanity.

How to we react and relate to this evil or negative force of nature.

If you resist evil you must stoop to that level fo evil, and furthermore you are responsible for the evil influence you produce by retaliating.

If you retaliate you lower yourself to the level of the wrong. Rather let the wrong be just a drop in the ocean of your virtue. Let the impurities of the atmosphere find a refuge in the ocean of purity in your heart, in the unfathomable joy of your inner pure conscience.
~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Science of Being and Art of Living

“Knowledge Eliminates Fear” - Rk Veda.

Knowledge means perspective.

Opposite forces are not opposed, but they are in relationship.

There is a connection between light and dark, good and bad, night and day. There has always been an interplay of opposites.

Heaven and hell, Dharma and Adharma, Health and Disease, Enlightenment and Ignorance.

Darkness is rising up and challenging the increase of consciousness.

The Four Yugas (Eras)

  1. Krita Yuga / Sat Yuga (The Sinless Age of Purity)

  2. Treta Yuga (When evil sprouted in the hearts of the men of the treta yuga).

  3. Dwapara Yuga (An age of conflict and men doubted the very nature of truth).

  4. Kali Yuga (The Age of Ignorance)

Raksas’s (Dark or Negative Forces)

Raksas's get their food and sustenance from manipulation and fears.

Show your love and appreciation for those dark forces. Salute them.

The gift of the dark: it comes to challenge. The darkness rises to prompt people to awaken and dive into action.

Appreciate the play of creation, light and dark, and realise it’s your role to be aware of those forces and love them.

Tactic: Fear Sensationalism

Get people into a state of hyper-arousal, get them to contract, and then you can have them.

But what about if people were able to become fearless. Then none of that would work.

Ignorance ain’t bliss. Ignorance is a disaster.

As people begin to look into that they start to feel so uncomfortable.

Fear is the poison to the soul and it dulls the light of the world.

Collective Relationships and Alliances

When you transcend the fear of wanting happiness only for yourself, and too much stressing on that and too much thinking about that, rather think of others needs and you’ll actually get more happy and more fulfilled.

Questioning the design of our living.

Working or spending the best part of your day in a building or institution.

Is that the best use of my life energy?

Now more than ever, it has never been better for a whole system redesign.

There’s a big correction. We are being asked to reassess.

We need more visionaries to lead humanity.

Collectively embracing radical change. Let’s not go back to how the world was, let’s create something new.

COVID-19 is a spiritual bootcamp everyone has been enlisted to.

Enjoy the show.

The importance of the mind.

The Vedic View on Mediums & Spirit Communicators

I respect “The Medical Medium (Anthony Williams),” I think his story is interesting and amazing, and I validate that the information he shares with the public is coming from “Spirit.”

I also support what he is sharing because it is helping the collective heal naturally.

However, I have always found the medical advice, particularly the treatment recommendations, rather ineffective and weak, (and of course non-individualised).

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s view on mediums explains why…

“There are some who try to use the supernatural power of creation by contacting the spirits world through a medium or by invoking spirits.

This represents a very limited level of strength because no spirit is in possession of the total power of nature.

There may be spirits more powerful than man, but invoking these spirits or acting as a medium for them is not a practice to be encouraged. There are two reasons for this:

  1. The power gained through these spirits is an insignificant, infinitesimal fraction of the poor of almighty nature;

  2. To receive this fraction of the power of nature one must give oneself completely to that spirit’s influence (for the spirit to co-operate).

Instead of giving oneself completely to a spirit and only gaining a small amount of power, one should give oneself completely to the divine Being (such as through meditation) and gain the unlimited, almighty power of nature.”

~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Thus, I have always valued more and found way more powerful the medical protocols provided by my Gurus, who are Ayurvedic doctors that are particularly well established in Being (at high levels of consciousness), thus have access to the unlimited, almighty power of nature which they implement in their Ayurvedic medicine.

Kriśhna Consciousness: Perceiving the Absolute in the Relative of Life

I am going to tell you about an astonishing individual, named Krśna, aka Lord Krishna, who interacted with incredibly fascinating and significant events in history.

Krśna was a transcendent Being. A 100% pure (realised) avatar.

Rightly so that his body was made up of the Absolute. He is the Absolute.

This is why his skin colour is indigo (as close to black as blue can get), because the elemental make up of his human body is predominately space (akasha), secondarily air (vayu), tertiary fire (tejas), quaternary water (apa) and only has a little amount of earth element (prthvi) in his physiology - the direct opposite elemental make up to basically all humans on planet earth.

Imagine the unmanifest presenting itself inside the relative, and doing so in the shape of a human.

When you look at it, it was a moving sculpture, unmanifest.

As it moved through the relative world, it would unmanifest everything in its path, back to the Absolute in the shape of a body. His hand would not move through space, it would be space unmanifesting in the form of a hand.

When you look into Krśna, you were looking into a black hole.

Powerful mass and powerful gravitation. Massive consciousness attraction capability.

REMEMBER, before you become overwhelmed and feel “mythology” is irrelevant and unrealistic, in this case for example, “Krśna” is a representation of a state of consciousness that is within everyone.

Krishna consciousness is when your consciousness is able to perceive the absolute Being in the relative of life.

Living the High Value of Life with Abundance & Affluence (Laksmi) + Guru Relationships | Yashoda Devi Ma #020

About Yashoda Devi Ma

Yashoda Devi Ma is the founder of 'The Subtle Mind' meditation + co-creative studio in Boulder, Co.  Her primary focus is mind health through the vedic meditation technique, healing, vedic astrology + activating the subtle mind/body with the yogic technologies of sattva yoga.  Her deepest passion is to create an empowered, peaceful mind, awaken one's heart and transform individuals in full value living elegantly. Yashoda teaches worldwide public + private retreats, yoga festivals, conferences, corporate speaking engagements, courses and workshops.

In This Episode We Discuss

Yashoda’s Story

Having many “births” in this lifetime.

Being adopted, searching for birth parents and reuniting with her birth mother.

Depression, suicide.

The paradox of people looking like they got it all - good looks, money, famous, brought up in a good family, but feeling miserable on the inside.

Ture Fulfilment

Your life can change in any moment.

Yashoda’s spontaneous introduction into Vedic Meditation (VM).

Rapid healing from insomnia, depression and ADHD from VM.

Guru / Shishya (Student) Relationship

Fluctuating between various gurus and practices vs. maintaining a common thread and uniting all aspects of Yoga.

Generally it is advised to only have one guru since it is better to stay on one path to get to a destination (enlightenment) rather then moving between various paths (since all the paths lead to the same outcome).

Not mixing two different lineages, like a “fish milkshake,” but layering them.

Yashoda having two lineages and two gurus, which is unusual.

Yashoda’s 2 Main Gurus in her life:

  1. Maharishi Thom Knoles - Like the sun, feeds you knowledge, corrects through knowledge.
  2. Anand Mehrotra -  Sharp like a sword that’s cutting through you, calls your out, corrects your intellect, slaps in your face.

Living with a Guru as a quantum leap in evolution.

Vedic parenting.

Observing Guru, nature and states of consciousness for evolution.

Laksmi / Abundance & Affluence

Living full value in life without “lack mentality”.

  • Laksmi sister is Saraswati (knowledge). You can’t have wealth and abundance without knowledge.
  • Choosing the higher value of behaviour over the lower value of behaviour.
  • Punya - our spiritual bank account.
  • Having every resource at the tip of your fingers. Because they align to the value of which nature is desiring for you and the universe.
Drops you into the highest value of being a human: universal compassion, universal friendliness, unshakable universal happiness and a grace and a power that we are able to move through life no matter what anybody is doing, we are still in our grace. That is Laksmi...In that, then the resources come.
Yashoda Devi Ma

Fundamental of Nature: What You Give you Will Receive
Experiment and play with the laws of nature.

“You Deserve the best…” You are worthy.

“You are worthy. It s our natural-born heritage to be abundant. If mother nature is abundant, then we are.”

Saying yes and not closing ourselves off.

Everything is energy. Whatever we give value to will have value.

Embody fearlessness. Laksmi is a non-stop moving river.

Sattva Yoga - Himalayan Tantra

Radical aliveness. Using the whole body to come alive in this pranic level.

The Full Moon That Purifies Water & Drips Nectar: Sharad Purnima

Once a year, on a particular full moon, a saint-like star reveals its presence in the sky.

This star is called “Agastya” (Sanskrit) or “Canopus” (western astrology).

The Toxic Water Epidemic

Not even the best instruments (water filters) can purify water because it is completely soluble. Even boiling water properly, a more powerful water purification technique, may not fully remove the toxins as they are completely dissolved into the water.

In fact, one of the main sources of diseases in this day of age (Kali Yuga) is from (creatures/micro-organisms in) water.

It is known Reverse Osmosis removes essential minerals, but what more is that it removes Prana (life-force) and Ojas (vital-essence) from the water. Another reason why boiling water is so important is that it brings back Prana to some extent.

The Ultimate Water Purifier

So, on the full moon of “Sharad Purnima,” occuring around October/November according to the Georgian calendar,  ALL WATER exposed to sunlight that day, and then to moonlight that night, becomes NECTAR. This full moon is the Ultimate Water Purifier.
*(Very dirty and contaminated water will have to be further purified).

Every year nature organises this full moon to arrive in India at the middle of the monsoon, to purify all the acid and toxins built up from the beginning of the monsoon, and pave the way for a fresh and clean winter.

Lakes, rivers, water stations, dams, catchment areas all exposed to the moon become so pure.

Swim in them, drink the fresh nectar, see, acknowledge and unify with the Divine in water. Because water is the embodiment of Mother (Maha Devi) - the giver of life, nourishing, nurturing, protecting, has infinite adaptability is abundant and transcendent.

Ritual and Practice for Sharad Purnima Full Moon

Drink sweet boiled milk with spices that night, and during cooking and drinking it, expose it to the moonlight to invigorate and fortify the milk.

Look at the reflection of the moon in your cup of milk. It will look like a full moon eclipse (see photo).

Then it is Prasad (holy food). Drinking it will boost ojas in you, stregnthen your immunity and digestion, remove acidity from the body and leave you feeling nourished.

This ritual is best done as close to mid-night as possible.
